Digidelta Software has a new online auction system

Wezoot Auctions is the new project that Digidelta Software officially presented in Évora, in a partnership with AJASUL - Association of Young Farmers of the South.

Wezoot Auctions is an innovative application that allows the user to manage a livestock auction (online and in place). This project aims in responding to the current challenges of livestock digitalization, modernizing the way buyers and sellers participate in the auction. With this system it is possible to watch the auction in real time and submit a bid from any device with an Internet connection. Also, in the auction park, the bidding process was digitized, through the use of electronic buttons by buyers.
The solution was entirely developed by Digidelta Software, applying the latest programming languages and usability principles, seeking to offer a simple and intuitive tool for the various users: buyers, sellers and the auction's managers.

"Digital transformation is a challenge and an opportunity for livestock market", highlights Carlos Neves, administrator of Digidelta Software. “The development of the system started before the current pandemic scenario, however, in the current context, a tool that allows participation at a distance auction gains new relevance”, he says.

In addition to the processes and technologies commonly used by the development team, the specifics of this project also involved the research, analysis and creation of new approaches, namely:
- The use of SignalR Hubs with Reactive Extensions (“Reactive” WebSockets) to create a single manager of all types of bids (the only source of truth about the ongoing auction);
- The modification of the open source software Zigbee2mqtt to create a direct connection to the SignalR server in order to integrate the bidding via buttons, on site, directly with the manager bidding process;
- Creating a Home Assistant in order to provide the customer with a way to verify the ZigBee Network.
- To ensure video streaming, the use of several services was combined, namely Azure Media Services Live Events, CCTV video cameras, RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) and HSL (HTTP Live Streaming) managed through the API provided by Microsoft.

Throughout the process, experts in various technologies were also consulted to validate the projection designed for each of the technologies, namely Microsoft, in terms of Azure Cloud, Azure Media Services or Solution Architecture, or the Maker Movement in terms of the Zigbee network.

In the first AJASUL cattle auction using the system, more than 700 tenders were submitted to the 104 lots presented, for a total of about 300 animals. There were more than 30 in-person and online participants and an online purchase was resisted at the first auction.
The application reinforces Digidelta Software's investment in software in the field of livestock. The portuguese company already developed Wezoot, an animal production management software for cattle, sheep and goats. Wezoot manages more than 55 thousand cattle in Portugal.
