Shellfish hatchery digitalization
Industry 4.0 project, financed by Fundo Azul, developed by Digidelta Software and Oceano fresco continues to advance.
On October 10th 2018, Oceano Fresco in collaboration with the company Digidelta Software, has started the project ‘Digidtalization in aquaculture for the optimization of the production of native bivalve species’. This project aims to place on the market native species of bivalves of high gastronomic value and commercial – Ruditapes decussatus and Venerupis corrugata – and a digital aquaculture production magament platform.
The productive capacity of the BioMaribe Center of Oceano Fresco, in Nazaré, will be enhanced by a digital aquaculture system (industry 4.0) that will allow the optimization of protocols for seed cultivation in the hatchery. Thus, through data collection, processing, analysis, production of alarms and commands and the implementation of predictive models, greater control of the factors that directly or indirectly influence the yield of the production unit will be ensured.
The overall objectives of the project are i) to obtain a digital management platform, modular, parameterized and ‘user-friendly’ for the entire hatchery production process; ii) record critical hatchery data to create a history and obtain predictive information over time; iii) develop genomic resources adapted to the breeding program defined in the hatchery; iv) increase hatchery productivity; and v) placing seed of native European species (Ruditapes decussatus and Venerupis corrugata) on the market at a competitive cost.
This project is co-financed by the Blue Fund, managed by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy (DGRM), as part of the sustainable development strategy of the sea economy.
